Amalia Tsakiri «Paradojas»

– Amalia Tsakiri.

The world has become a huge puzzle that we try to articulate in the vain belief that, once solved, we will find the certainties and truths with which to solve the enigmas and problems in which our lives unfold, without realising that often the real puzzlement is to be found within ourselves.

In a permanent flight forward, we human beings continue to fail to realise that the key we need to solve this puzzle is not to be found on the outside and in the messages, information, false news and fictitious hopes imposed on us by those powers that feignedly claim to defend the truth and the common good.

The real key to solving it lies within ourselves, if we finally understand that we need to become eccentric beings who break out of the dizzying spiral of the structured set of ideas that alienate us, to become divergent beings capable of creatively linking ideas and processes to find alternatives to solve our problems, thus transforming ourselves into beings of creative as opposed to logical and linear thinking.

We find it difficult to discover our inner world, we find it difficult to harmonise our ideas and thoughts around the essence of life, an essence in which all human beings are equal, in which we are obliged to honour and respect others, our environment, nature and the planet that shelters us.

Sometimes, it is not possible to reconcile this enormous accumulation of things and the vast chaos that represents the outside world and our inner world, but Amalia Tsakiri (Lamia, Greece) confronts all this by constructing a contradictory narrative between the real and the imagined, between the complex and the simple, between the everyday and the infrequent, in a way that seems to me eccentric and divergent.

Her images constitute a set of thoughts and feelings related to the power of fantasy, of dreams, of mystery, a place where the real and the imaginary world are related and as she says: ‘where these two entities (the real and the imaginary) can coexist and often mix, as they are both a window and a mirror of my world, a world in which I create an interaction between the internal and the external that sometimes contradicts and at other times results in total harmony’.

“I am inspired by a paradoxical everyday moment that sometimes unfolds spontaneously and at other times is merely staged, with the aim of conveying emotions and evocations within a familiar environment that is frequently altered. My approach is to create an equivocal narrative of an ambiguous journey, inspired by personal thoughts and emotions”. – Amalia Tsakiri.
