Música/Music: The Other Wave by Caspar Jade *

Para mí, las imágenes y la música van inseparablemente unidas /  I compose my music without any AI. So far, nothing on the market has convinced me. For me, images and music belong inseparably together.

In recent decades the uses of artificial intelligence (AI) have extended to various aspects of our reality with potential applications that have ranged from the design of patterns of social behaviour, the prediction of economic fluctuations, the control of attention and opinion in social networks or the processing of data for the development of political measures in times of crisis.

In this plural context the art world could not remain oblivious to this reality and in recent years, art and AI have begun to converge in an emerging creative field in such a way that AI itself has proven to be a valuable tool for artists seeking new forms of expression and creative exploration.

While AI can produce art in surprising ways, the debate over whether these creations can be considered ‘authentic’ remains a matter of contention. Some argue that AI-generated art lacks the human intention and experience behind the creation, while others see it as a new form of artistic expression that reflects the interaction between humans and technology.
But whether AI has been used in the field of art to create works of art, to assist artists in their creative process or also to better analyse and understand existing works of art, artificial intelligence will never replace human creativity – if anything, it can only complement it.

Caspar Jade (alter ego of Hannes Caspar, who lives and works in Berlin) is a multidisciplinary artist (video, photography, music) who presents us with an artistic work produced with AI and deeply rooted in photographic art. His images propose a dialogue and reflection on human nature, culture and society.

Generated through the multiple decisions that he himself establishes and decides, they constitute a kind of freeze-frame of a film in which a plot unfolds. In itself each image is a narrative open to the imaginative speculation of the spectator who is irremediably attracted to its contemplation, given the seductive and extraordinarily visual essence of the image.

His marvellous work greatly enriches photographic culture and helps us to perceive new realities, no more and no less than those that will accompany us throughout the present 21st century.

“At school, I always thought I would become a musician or a director. But then everything came differently. Photography crossed my path and for years I focused only on that. But with the easier possibilities to produce films and music, the desire to develop myself further came up. I realized how nice it would be to combine everything. Since then I’ve been working on film concepts like «about artists» that allow me to do just that. People are always at the center of my visual work, I find nothing more inspiring”.- Caspar Jade.
