Hemos convertido al mundo y a nuestra vida en una atropellada sucesión de incongruencias sustentadas por nuestros egos, nuestros miedos, dudas, temores y esencialmente por no entender que formamos parte de un universo constituido de frágiles conexiones que se mantienen en equilibrio dependiendo unas de otras.
En este sinsentido que los seres humanos hemos creado no solo hemos olvidado que somos una parte esencial de ese equilibrio, sino que habiéndonos convencido de ser el centro del universo y de ser el único factor importante dentro de él, hemos roto muchas de las frágiles conexiones que lo amalgamaban.
Incapaces de encontrar la belleza que anida en cada una de nuestras almas, vivimos en una huida hacia adelante sin saber muy bien a dónde nos dirigimos. Una gran parte de nosotros ha sustituido el bien común por el bien individual, la solidaridad por el egoísmo, la compasión por la intolerancia, la paciencia por la inmediatez y la serenidad por la alienación.
Pero a pesar de todo y al tiempo que están a la búsqueda de su propio yo, hay muchas personas y artistas que también tratan de encontrar ese lugar al que dirigirnos en armonía con la naturaleza y el resto de los seres humanos.
Lenghi Teng es una fotógrafa holandesa afincada en Rotterdam (1976, Vietnam) que se encuentra en ese camino y que acepta la complejidad del mundo al tiempo que valora la simplicidad, a pesar de la fugacidad y la imperfección de la vida.
Sus retratos son fruto de sus emociones interiores, imágenes en las que el modelo es una extensión de sus sentimientos, una aproximación, tal vez, a la quimera de un mundo en el que la serenidad, la quietud, la paz, la armonía, la vulnerabilidad y la fragilidad humanas sean, de nuevo, las conexiones que sostengan al universo.

We have turned the world and our lives into a hurried succession of incongruities sustained by our egos, our fears, our doubts, our fears and essentially by not understanding that we are part of a universe made up of fragile connections that are kept in balance depending on each other.
In this nonsense that human beings have created, we have not only forgotten that we are an essential part of that balance, but having convinced ourselves of being the center of the universe and of being the only important factor within it, we have broken many of the fragile connections that amalgamated it.
Unable to find the beauty that nestles in each of our souls, we live in a flight forward without knowing where we are headed. A large part of us has replaced the common good with individual good, solidarity with selfishness, compassion with intolerance, patience with immediacy and serenity with alienation.
But in spite of everything and while searching for their own self, there are many people and artists who are also trying to find that place to go to in harmony with nature and the rest of human beings.
Lenghi Teng is a Dutch photographer based in Rotterdam (1976, Vietnam) who is on that path and who accepts the complexity of the world while valuing simplicity, despite the transience and imperfection of life.
Her portraits are the fruit of her inner emotions, images in which the model is an extension of her feelings, an approximation, perhaps, to the chimera of a world in which serenity, stillness, peace, harmony, human vulnerability and fragility are, once again, the connections that sustain the universe.
