¡¡ 20 Aniversario ADFPHOTO !!

For centuries, we have tried to assimilate reality through reason or traditional logic, without considering the fact that, throughout history, human beings have also sought to understand the irrational or illogical through hidden aspects of reality itself, spirituality, and self-knowledge.
Culturally, this way of assimilating reality has been identified with esotericism, understood as a set of practices, rituals, and knowledge that are difficult to access or considered secret, which seek to understand the world and human existence beyond conventional reason, exploring a veiled reality through intuition, meditation, and the study of symbols.
Whether through logical reason or spirituality, human beings have always sought to grasp reality, without fully understanding that such a task can only be accomplished through each individual’s interpretation of it.
This interpretation, throughout our existence, has traditionally constituted the foundation of art because, not surprisingly, it has been the human activity or creation that has most sought to express emotions, ideas, or a personal vision of reality or the imaginary, all through visual, audio, or linguistic resources with an aesthetic and symbolic purpose.
Liz Huston (Los Angeles, USA) is one of the few human beings capable of offering us, through art, a unique interpretation of reality born from her astonishing imagination and her enormous capacity to create worlds beyond assimilability.
A self-taught artist, Huston’s work has evolved over the decades from analog photography to digital photography, photomontage, and mixed media through the combination of photography, acrylics, oil paintings, watercolors, and the use of new digital technologies.
Her images appeal to our senses and emotions through fantastic, strange, surreal, and dreamlike narratives capable of placing us between light and shadow, making us wander along the tenuous border that emerges between wakefulness and sleep, between sanity and dementia, between the real and the chimerical. In any case—and despite the narrative complexity her images present—the challenge for our gaze will lie in discovering within them the path that leads us to the extraordinary beauty of the world and of human beings.
“Art is absolutely the legacy I wish to leave the world. I want to leave this place more beautiful than I found it, and I do so through my art”.- Liz Huston.
