Vivimos un tiempo de confusión y desconcierto atrapados en una vertiginosa espiral de acontecimientos en los que la desinformación se viste de información, la mentira se traviste de verdad y la incerteza se disfraza de lo cierto.
En medio de un aparente orden en el que en realidad reina el caos, nuestras convicciones, creencias y principios se ven permanentemente hostigados por la duda, el miedo, la ansiedad y el estrés que día tras día nos suministran los medios de comunicación y las redes sociales.
No es fácil mantenerse al margen de tantas influencias ni es sencillo conservar la integridad y el sentido común que debe caracterizar a todo ser humano pues, en un contexto como en el que vivimos, nuestra identidad queda sometida al vaivén de lo políticamente correcto y de una más que veleidosa opinión pública.
La serie Ceci n´est pas de Miguel Vallinas Prieto ( 1971, Medina del Campo – Valladolid, España) explora el concepto de la identidad y la elección del individuo, de manera que los objetos recrean aquello que nos condiciona, que nos determina, que anhelamos o tal vez que olvidamos.
Sus imágenes no pretenden crear más confusión de la que existe sino tratar de abrir brechas en ella, intentar romper moldes sociales y culturales preconstruidos y preconcebidos a los que nuestra vida se ve sometida y que impiden el acceso a nuestra auténtica realidad y a nuestra verdadera razón de ser y existir.
Ceci n’est pas (Esto no es…) nos invita a reflexionar sobre “lo que sí es”, “lo que creemos ser”; “lo que los otros creen que somos”; ”lo que queremos ser” y “lo que realmente somos”.- Miguel Vallinas Prieto.

We live in a time of confusion and bewilderment, trapped in a dizzying spiral of events in which disinformation is dressed up as information, lies are dressed up as truth and uncertainty is disguised as certainty.
In the midst of an apparent order in which chaos reigns, our convictions, beliefs and principles are permanently harassed by the doubt, fear, anxiety and stress that the media and social networks provide us with day after day.
It is not easy to remain untouched by so many influences, nor is it easy to preserve the integrity and common sense that should characterise every human being, because in a context such as the one we live in, our identity is subject to the sway of political correctness and a more than fickle public opinion.
The series Ceci n’est pas by Miguel Vallinas Prieto (1971, Medina del Campo – Valladolid, Spain) explores the concept of identity and the choice of the individual, in such a way that the objects recreate what conditions us, what determines us, what we long for or perhaps forget.
His images are not intended to create more confusion than exists but to try to break through it, to try to break the preconstructed and preconceived social and cultural patterns to which our lives are subjected and which prevent us from accessing our true reality and our true reason for being and existing.
