El mundo se ha convertido en una larga sucesión de representaciones y en una acumulada precipitación de imágenes, sin que hayamos advertido que nuestra relación con el tiempo y con el espacio se ha transformado de tal manera, que se ha producido una quiebra en la propia percepción de nosotros mismos.
Imbuidos en el ritual vertiginoso de la existencia, hemos llegado a consagrar a lo utilitario como la única vinculación posible con ella, y en nombre de la utilidad hemos aceptado, progresivamente, la pérdida de nuestra condición de humanos y de la percepción esencial del orden del universo. Un orden, cuya arquitectura depende de una delgada línea de interdependencia entre todos los elementos en que se constituye la vida.
En este universo, que nos hemos construido, no hay tiempo, ni espacio, y en él, todas las ventanas que se abren a la experiencia, nos proyectan un carrusel fugaz de acontecimientos, de hechos, de falsas realidades que permanentemente se nos presentan en atropellada sucesión. Todo ha de ser efímero y banal. Nada puede ser.
Finalmente, y en medio de un vacío tan profundo, se ha hecho imposible medir el tiempo. Ha dejado de existir. La inmediatez se ha configurado en la única regla existente y con ella, hemos perdido toda posibilidad de mediar con los demás o con nosotros mismos, creándose, así, un insondable abismo de distancia entre cada existencia. En esa distancia, cada vez mayor, lo inmediato actúa a modo de ruido sobre el que es imposible escuchar la palabra y sin ella quedamos huérfanos del relato común que nos amalgamaba con la vida.
Sin Tiempo, sin Historia, sin Relato, nada más que nos queda el silencio. Silencio de la fotografía frente al silencio de cada uno de nosotros. Silencio de los silencios. Territorio de lo indefinible y lo intraducible. Preámbulo de la partida del asfixiante lugar común que nos insta a mostrar la diferencia, aquello que nos permite poder poner de manifiesto todo lo que nos hace singulares, que nos obliga a constituirnos en seres excéntricos, capaces de huir de la espiral unificadora y del territorio de lo igual.
Nathan Wirth (1967, San Francisco, USA) cuya auténtica vocación es capturar el silencio a través de la fotografía, es un ser singular y excéntrico, que recorre con la imagen fotográfica este lugar sin lugares que hemos construido, ese territorio vacío e idéntico a sí mismo que nos hemos dado y que está constituido por infinitas referencias que sustituyen a todo referente. Nathan Wirth, como pocos, ha sido capaz de instalar ante nuestros ojos otros mundos para, con ello, otorgarnos la maravillosa posibilidad de poder erigir uno nuevo.
“Intento fotografiar el silencio de la soledad, la soledad del silencio. Hay un silencio curioso que reside en los pliegues de ruido que nos rodea. Por supuesto, no se puede escuchar ese silencio. Pero uno, creo, puede sentirlo y espero fotografiarlo. O al menos lo estoy intentando”.- Nathan Wirth.

The world has become a long succession of representations and an accumulated precipitation of images, without our noticing that our relation to time and space has been transformed in such a way that our own perception of ourselves has broken down.
Imbued in the vertiginous ritual of existence, we have come to consecrate the utilitarian as the only possible link with it, and in the name of utility we have progressively accepted the loss of our human condition and of the essential perception of the order of the universe. An order whose architecture depends on a thin line of interdependence between all the elements that constitute life.
In this universe that we have constructed for ourselves, there is no time or space, and in it, all the windows that open up to experience project a fleeting carousel of events, of facts, of false realities that are permanently presented to us in a hurried succession. Everything must be ephemeral and banal. Nothing can be.
Finally, and in the midst of such a deep void, it has become impossible to measure time. It has ceased to exist. Immediacy has become the only existing rule and with it, we have lost all possibility of mediating with others or with ourselves, thus creating an unfathomable abyss of distance between each existence. In this ever-widening distance, the immediate acts as a kind of noise over which it is impossible to hear the word, and without it we are orphaned of the common narrative that amalgamated us with life.
Without Time, without History, without Story, we are left with nothing but silence. Silence of the photograph as opposed to the silence of each one of us. Silence of silences. Territory of the indefinable and the untranslatable. Preamble to the departure of the asphyxiating commonplace that urges us to show difference, that which allows us to reveal everything that makes us singular, that obliges us to become eccentric beings, capable of fleeing from the unifying spiral and the territory of the equal.
Nathan Wirth (1967, San Francisco, USA), whose true vocation is to capture silence through photography, is a singular and eccentric being, who travels with the photographic image this place without places that we have constructed, this empty territory identical to itself that we have given ourselves and that is made up of infinite references that replace all referents. Nathan Wirth, like few others, has been able to install other worlds before our eyes and, in doing so, give us the marvellous possibility of being able to build a new one.
