Durante siglos hemos creído que la realidad existe, que la vida y nuestra existencia se componen de certezas y momentos verdaderos que acontecen diariamente. Para los creyentes la realidad sucede por designio divino y para los no creyentes la misma se produce por puro azar y causalidad.
Pero verdaderamente la realidad no existe si creemos en ella como una única expectativa de vida porque, en primer lugar, la realidad no deja de ser más que una interpretación que construimos desde nuestras creencias, desde nuestra educación, desde los jirones adheridos a nuestra alma por el camino de nuestra existencia y por los valores prendidos en nuestro corazón en el seno de nuestra familia y, en segundo lugar, porque hemos perdido la confianza en ella y hemos terminado también por perder el relato común que nos unía a todos.
Nos hemos convertido en seres desconfiados, aturdidos e inermes ante las mentiras y las falsas noticias que conforman nuestro día a día, dejando finalmente de creer en todo, en las instituciones, en las leyes, en las normas, en la convivencia pacífica y en la necesaria y confiada relación entre los seres humanos. Hoy existen tantas realidades como seres humanos en el mundo, cada uno con su propia interpretación, cada uno con sus propias ideas como si cada una de ellas fuera la única verdad a imponer, como si fuera la única puerta de salida.
En medio de todo este caos y desorden, en medio de esta inescrutable convivencia que nos hemos dado a nosotros mismos, hay artistas que surgen como la baliza de señalización en el mar que nos advierte del peligro de los bajíos, como el faro que en medio de la tormenta nos brinda el haz de luz para guiarnos en nuestra travesía.
Patrizia Burra (1960, Udine, Italia) ha sabido huir de ese caos, no tanto para restablecer el orden y la realidad como para hacernos conscientes de nuestra propia irrealidad. Creadora de mundos distópicos y contradictorios nos propone un viaje a través de los sueños y las quimeras, a través de lo surreal y lo absurdo, una travesía en la que nos muestra la extraordinaria belleza de unos seres que a modo de replicantes nos miran como diciéndonos que es posible otra existencia, que es posible una relación que nos permita amar, sentir la vida, vivirla con plenitud a pesar de nuestras diferencias.
Su serie Emotional es un canto a la belleza y el esplendor que anida en el alma de cada ser humano. Sus imágenes son puertas abiertas a tantos relatos como puedan desprenderse de nuestra imaginación y sensibilidad. Resulta imposible no quedarse prendado de la mirada de todas estas mujeres, de su serenidad, de sus leves gestos, de su belleza, atributos todos ellos que inundan de plenitud nuestra existencia. Si finalmente la realidad no es más que un constructo que surge de nuestra mente y nuestras creencias y nos hemos perdido en medio de tanto desconcierto y aturdimiento, Patrizia Burra, apelando a nuestras emociones, ha sabido mostrarnos el camino por el que no extraviarnos en medio de tanta oscuridad y tanta confusión.

For centuries we have believed that reality exists, that life and our existence are made up of certainties and true moments that happen on a daily basis. For believers reality happens by divine design and for non-believers it happens by pure chance and causality.
But reality does not really exist if we believe in it as a single expectation of life because, firstly, reality is nothing more than an interpretation that we construct from our beliefs, from our education, from the shreds attached to our souls along the path of our existence and from the values that are engraved in our hearts in the bosom of our families and, secondly, because we have lost confidence in it and we have also ended up losing the common story that united us all.
We have become distrustful, dazed and defenceless in the face of the lies and fake news that make up our daily lives, finally ceasing to believe in everything, in institutions, in laws, in rules, in peaceful coexistence and in the necessary and trusting relationship between human beings. Today there are as many realities as there are human beings in the world, each one with their own interpretation, each one with their own ideas as if each one of them were the only truth to impose, as if it were the only way out.
In the midst of all this chaos and disorder, in the midst of this inscrutable coexistence that we have given ourselves, there are artists who emerge like the signalling beacon in the sea that warns us of the danger of the shoals, like the lighthouse that in the midst of the storm gives us the beam of light to guide us on our journey.
Patrizia Burra (1960, Udine, Italy) has managed to escape from this chaos, not so much to re-establish order and reality as to make us aware of our own unreality. Creator of dystopian and contradictory worlds, she proposes a journey through dreams and chimeras, through the surreal and the absurd, a journey in which she shows us the extraordinary beauty of beings who, like replicants, look at us as if telling us that another existence is possible, that a relationship is possible that allows us to love, to feel life, to live it to the full despite our differences.
Her «Emotional» series is a hymn to the beauty and splendour that nestles in the soul of every human being. Her images are open doors to as many stories as our imagination and sensibility can tell. It is impossible not to be captivated by the gaze of all these women, by their serenity, their slight gestures, their beauty, all of them attributes that flood our existence with plenitude. If in the end reality is nothing more than a construct that arises from our mind and our beliefs and we have lost our way in the midst of so much confusion and bewilderment, Patrizia Burra, appealing to our emotions, has been able to show us the way to avoid getting lost in the midst of so much darkness and confusion.
