Se marcha definitivamente un año que podríamos considerar aciago y nefasto, que ha venido a ser como la radiografía de un epílogo, el colofón final de un período de la humanidad en el que se han terminado de derrumbar todos los ídolos y principios. Un año en el que no ha existido otra moral que la derivada de un hedonismo individual extremo, y en el que finalmente todos los valores humanos quedaron supeditados a una sola cínica regla, la de todo vale.
Un tiempo en el que la pandemia mundial nos ha mostrado, más que nunca, como la veracidad dejó paso a un universo de mentiras y verdades relativas, y en donde la utopía final de una humanidad en paz consigo misma feneció ante la necesidad de continuar consumiéndolo todo. Un tiempo en el que nos hemos empeñado en arrinconar el diálogo, el sentido común y la razón en favor de la confrontación y el fanatismo
Se marcha un año en el que hemos visto como lo que quedaba de los grandes relatos como la igualdad, la educación, la razón, la emancipación de la pobreza, la salud y el bienestar común han sucumbido definitivamente ante el poderoso influjo del individualismo y de un modelo económico cuyo norte ha sido y es el despojo medioambiental, la destrucción de la naturaleza y la obtención, sea como sea, de beneficios rápidos y suculentos.
Necesitamos sustituir la ética del tener por la del ser. Necesitamos pensarnos históricamente, necesitamos responsabilizarnos de todas nuestras decisiones y no continuar como súbditos de la ignorancia y cómplices del mismo sistema que nos sojuzga. Necesitamos, como dijeron Duch y Chillón, “dejar de creer que somos los propietarios de un presente pletórico y eterno, una utopía del ahora y el aquí que ha hipotecado el porvenir de la futuras generaciones”.
Debemos de ser uno y todos a la vez, y a pesar del ruido, del caos, del miedo, de la falsa información y de la falta de objetividad que nos imponen los medios de comunicación, tenemos que saber que sólo existe un camino, aquel que nos deberá conducir al encuentro de nuevas formas y modelos que nos permitan reedificar la herencia del Humanismo y la IIustración, un camino que nos lleve a nuevos idearios que posibiliten una nueva ética más solidaria, más cívica y más respetuosa con todos los seres humanos sin excepción, en definitiva, un camino en armonía con la naturaleza y con nuestro entorno, todo aquello que garantice un mejor futuro para la humanidad.
En este empeño y esfuerzo ADFPHOTO siempre ha querido y seguirá queriendo mostrar la obra de fotógrafas y fotógrafos que sintonicen con estos idearios y que nos muestren esa única ruta hacia el verdadero progreso de la humanidad.
En esta Navidad espero y deseo que el nuevo año sea mejor para todas y todos nosotros y para nuestras familias, un año en el que sepamos encontrar la senda hacia la paz, la armonía y, sobre todo, el disfrutar de salud y del bienestar individual y común.

A year that could be considered fateful and disastrous is leaving us for good, and it has become like an X-ray of an epilogue, the final culmination of a period of humanity in which all the idols and principles have collapsed. A year in which there has been no other morality than that derived from extreme individual hedonism, and in which, finally, all human values were made subject to a single cynical rule, that of anything goes.
A time when the world pandemic has shown us, more than ever, how truthfulness has given way to a universe of lies and relative truths, and where the final utopia of a humanity at peace with itself has perished in front of the need to continue consuming everything. A time when we have endeavoured to abandon dialogue, common sense and reason in favour of confrontation and fanaticism
A year is leaving in which we have seen how what was left of the great stories such as equality, education, reason, emancipation from poverty, health and common welfare have definitively succumbed to the powerful influence of individualism and an economic model whose north has been and is environmental plundering, the destruction of nature and the obtaining, in any case, of quick and succulent benefits.
We need to replace the ethics of having with the ethics of being. We need to think historically, we need to take responsibility for all our decisions and not continue as subjects of ignorance and accomplices of the same system that subjugates us. We need, as Duch and Chillón said, «to stop believing that we are the owners of a full and eternal present, a utopia of the now and here that has mortgaged the destiny of future generations».
We must be one and all at the same time, and despite the noise, chaos, fear, false information and lack of objectivity imposed on us by the media, we must know that there is only one path, the one that must lead us to find new forms and models that will allow us to rebuild the heritage of Humanism and the Enlightenment, a path that will lead us to new ideals that will make possible a new ethic that is more supportive, more civic and more respectful of all human beings without exception, in short, a path in harmony with nature and our environment, everything that guarantees a better future for humanity.
In this commitment and effort ADFPHOTO has always wanted and will continue to want to show the work of the women and men photographers who are in accordance with these ideals and who show us this unique route to the true progress of humanity.
On this strange Christmas I hope and desire that the new year will be better for all of us and for our families, a year in which we will know how to find the way to peace, harmony and, above all, the enjoyment of individual and common health and well-being.
