Stéphane Anthonioz «C-19»

No parece que seamos capaces de alcanzar a percibir las consecuencias que ha tenido y está teniendo la pandemia mundial de C-19 cuyos efectos varían de un continente a otro, de un país a otro y de una sociedad a otra. El impacto que se está produciendo en nuestros hábitos, en nuestras creencias y sobre todo en la cultura de nuestras sociedades está siendo de una dimensión tal que todavía aún no alcanzamos a ver sus resultados.

Centrados sobremanera en el mantenimiento de lo que se consideran principios inmutables de la economía y no en paliar las terribles consecuencias económicas de la pandemia, se están dejando de lado, también, otros fundamentos que, sin ser materiales, resultan imprescindibles en la superación de los desequilibrios que la pandemia ha causado y causa entre todos nosotros.

“La cultura y el arte siempre han sido el centro de las transformaciones sociales, de todas, porque lo que transforma una sociedad es precisamente su manera de entenderse a sí misma, de definir sus prioridades y valores, de convivir con la diferencia y de adaptarse al medio ambiente según las condiciones, que hoy tienden a ser cada vez más extremas” (Gemma Carbó)

En esta tesitura existe un buen número de artistas que han sabido comprender la necesidad de que, en estos momentos, sus reflexiones artísticas sirvan de estímulo para poder superar la situación que provoca la pandemia.

Stéphane Anthonioz (Pyla sur Mer, Francia) pertenece a esa estirpe de artistas capaces de modelar las identidades de las personas y de reforzar la cohesión social, pues con su obra artística son capaces de crear puentes entre grupos y personas que permiten la evolución de los seres humanos a través de valores éticos como la empatía, la igualdad, el humor, la compasión y la libertad.

C-19 es una serie de autorretratos tomados a menos de un kilómetro de mi casa, producidos durante este período de pandemia mundial y que representa nuestras nuevas condiciones de vida: la compartimentación, el confinamiento, la distancia, el miedo, la omnipresencia de los medios de comunicación sobre el sujeto, la muerte, la fragilidad y la vulnerabilidad del ser humano, sus límites, su resistencia también a este virus que enmascara nuestras sonrisas, que impide que nuestros brazos se abracen.- Stéphane Anthonioz.

We do not seem to be able to grasp the consequences of the global C-19 pandemic, the effects of which vary from continent to continent, country to country and society to society. The impact it is having on our habits, our beliefs and above all on the culture of our societies is such that we are not yet able to see the results.

Focused to a large extent on maintaining what are considered immutable principles of the economy and not on alleviating the terrible economic consequences of the pandemic, other fundamentals are also being left aside which, without being material, are essential to overcoming the imbalances that the pandemic has caused and is causing among all of us.

«Culture and art have always been at the centre of social transformations, of all social transformations, because what transforms a society is precisely its way of understanding itself, of defining its priorities and values, of coexisting with differences and of adapting to the environment according to the conditions, which today tend to be increasingly extreme» (Gemma Carbó).

In this context, there are a good number of artists who have understood the need for their artistic reflections to serve as a stimulus to overcome the situation caused by the pandemic.

Stéphane Anthonioz (Pyla sur Mer, France) belongs to that lineage of artists capable of shaping people’s identities and reinforcing social cohesion, because through their artistic work they are able to create bridges between groups and individuals that allow human beings to evolve through ethical values such as empathy, equality, humour, compassion and freedom.
