Vivimos tiempos de velocidad e inmediatez, vivimos tiempos atropelladamente, con estruendo, ruido, odio e ira y sin la más mínima capacidad de reflexión, raciocinio y sentido común además de en la más absoluta ausencia del sentido de la empatía.
Nos hemos sumido en un caos en el que todo vale y todo está justificado, incluso el crimen, la violencia, la guerra, la avaricia, la desigualdad y la obtención de grandes beneficios mediante la destrucción de la naturaleza.
En medio de ese caos la verdad es firme y contundentemente retorcida, no tanto para encontrar las diferentes interpretaciones que de ella se pueden hacer sino para transformarla en una gran falsedad y mentira con la que influir en el pensamiento y la realidad.
Lo cierto es que vivimos de espalda a la naturaleza y a nosotros mismos empeñados en no encontrar la relación de concordia sobre la que se construye no sólo el nexo que nos une a ella sino el vínculo que nos hermana a todos los seres humanos.
La función de todo artista consiste en inventar, pues la imaginación permite que lo racional y lo irracional coexistan productivamente, permite al individuo correr riesgos, expandir límites y explorar los gestos y las prácticas que nos permitirán a unos y otras presentarle alternativas al presente, esto es, construir posibles sistemas de utopía.
Para Ziqian Liu (nacida en 1990 en China) los elementos clave de su obra fotográfica son el equilibrio entre la naturaleza y los seres humanos así como el reflejo con espejos. Con el primer componente trata de reflexionar acerca de la simbiosis entre la naturaleza y el ser humano buscando el mostrar la necesaria armonía entre una y otro a través de la belleza y el equilibrio, como si a través de la belleza pudiera mitigar la crueldad, la intolerancia y la intransigencia del mundo actual.
El segundo elemento clave de su obra reside en los espejos pero, aunque los espejos pueden reflejar, mostrar, deformar, o incluso ocultar la imagen de aquello que queremos o tememos ver, para ella constituyen un instrumento con el que representar el mundo idealizado que no solamente desea ver sino que también nos quiere mostrar.
Desde una perspectiva meramente formal podríamos decir que Ziqian Liu se enfrenta a la cuestión de lo visible aunque, en verdad, lo esencial de su planteamiento se ubica en la cuestión del significado. Creo que ella ha entendido sin duda alguna que la existencia misma de la naturaleza anida en el seno de nuestra imaginación como un fenómeno consustancial a la propia esencia humana.
La mirada individual es una percepción, ante todo, visual del mundo. La mirada del artista es una percepción no sólo del mundo sino, también, de su apariencia. La cuestión que Ziqian Liu nos propone no se plantea en cuanto retorno a la naturaleza para recrearla o reinterpretarla. Se trata de hacernos entender que debemos volvernos hacia ella para reencontrarla y, en consecuencia, para reencontrarnos a nosotros mismos.
Lo más importante de su obra no se encuentra en el referente que se muestra ante nuestros ojos, sino en la inasible levedad de sus referencias. Su inclinación por resaltar la estética de la belleza, obedece a la búsqueda de un equilibrio que mitigue el desánimo y la desorientación de los tiempos que vivimos. Su obra parece anticipar un retorno a la paz, a la armonía y el equilibrio que todos debemos tratar de conseguir con la naturaleza y con nosotros mismos.
Es la rica expresión de la naturaleza la que inspira mi creatividad. Uno de los temas de mis obras es la simbiosis entre humanos y naturaleza. Espero usar mi creatividad para demostrar que no importa en la vida o en mi arte, los seres humanos pueden vivir en armonía con la naturaleza y apegarse unos a otros.- Ziqian Liu.

We live in times of speed and immediacy, we live in times of rushed, loud, noisy, hateful, angry and without the slightest capacity for reflection, reasoning and common sense and in the absolute absence of any sense of empathy.
We have been plunged into a chaos in which anything goes and anything is justified, including crime, violence, war, greed, inequality and making huge profits through the destruction of nature.
In the midst of this chaos, truth is firmly and forcefully twisted, not so much to find the different interpretations that can be made of it, but to transform it into a great falsehood and lie with which to influence thought and reality.
The truth is that we live with our backs to nature and to ourselves, determined not to find the relationship of concord on which is built not only the nexus that unites us to nature but also the bond that unites all human beings.
The function of every artist is to invent, because imagination allows the rational and the irrational to coexist productively, it allows the individual to take risks, to expand limits and to explore the gestures and practices that will allow us to present alternatives to the present, that is, to construct possible systems of utopia.
For Ziqian Liu (born 1990 in China) the key elements of her photographic work are the balance between nature and human beings as well as mirror reflection. With the first component she tries to reflect on the symbiosis between nature and human beings, seeking to show the necessary harmony between one and the other through beauty and balance, as if through beauty she could mitigate the cruelty, intolerance and intransigence of today’s world.
The second key element in her work resides in mirrors, but although mirrors can reflect, show, deform or even hide the image of what we want or fear to see, for her they constitute an instrument with which to represent the idealised world that she not only wishes to see but also to show us.
From a purely formal perspective, we could say that Ziqian Liu is dealing with the question of the visible, although, in truth, the essence of her approach lies in the question of meaning. I believe that she has undoubtedly understood that the very existence of nature nests in the bosom of our imagination as a phenomenon consubstantial to the human essence itself.
The individual gaze is first and foremost a visual perception of the world. The artist’s gaze is a perception not only of the world but also of its appearance. The question that Ziqian Liu proposes to us is not a return to nature in order to recreate or reinterpret it. It is about making us understand that we must turn to nature in order to rediscover it and, consequently, to rediscover ourselves.
The most important thing in her work is not in the reference that is shown before our eyes, but in the elusive lightness of his references. Her inclination to highlight the aesthetics of beauty, obeys the search for a balance that mitigates the discouragement and disorientation of the times we live in. Her work seems to anticipate a return to the peace, harmony and balance that we should all strive to achieve with nature and with ourselves.
